Overview

Experience two of Turkey’s most Instagrammable natural wonders in a single day with the Alanya Salda Lake & Pamukkale Tour. Often called the "White Tour" due to the snowy travertines of Pamukkale and the white magnesium sands of Salda Lake, this journey takes you from the coast of Alanya deep into the heart of the Anatolian plateau. From swimming in the "Turkish Maldives" to walking the halls of the ancient city of Hierapolis, this is a day of surreal landscapes and ancient history.

Why This is a "Must-Do" from Alanya

While Salda Lake and Pamukkale are located roughly 285 km and 365 km from Alanya respectively, combining them into one guided tour is the most efficient and comfortable way to witness these world-class sites:

  • The Turkish Maldives (Salda Lake): Relax on white sands and swim in the cleanest, deepest turquoise lake in Turkey.

  • UNESCO World Heritage Site: Explore the "Cotton Castle" (Pamukkale), a geological marvel of white calcium terraces.

  • Healing Waters: Bathe in thermal pools that have been used as a spa since the 2nd century BC.

  • Ancient Hierapolis: Walk through one of the largest ancient necropolises and a perfectly preserved Roman theater.

  • All-Inclusive Dining: We provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so you can focus entirely on the scenery.

Your "White Tour" Itinerary

1. Early Morning Departure

The journey begins early (around 03:00 – 04:00 AM) with a pick-up from your Alanya hotel. We travel in a modern, air-conditioned bus through the picturesque Taurus Mountains. A stop for a traditional Turkish breakfast in the town of Korkuteli will give you the energy for the day ahead.

2. Salda Lake: The Turkish Maldives

Our first major highlight is Salda Lake. You’ll have approximately 1 hour to enjoy this crater lake, famous for its magnesium-rich white sand and clear blue water. It is one of only two places in the world with this specific geological structure (the other is in Canada). Take the opportunity to walk along the shore and snap photos that look like they belong in the Caribbean.

3. Arrival at Pamukkale & Hierapolis

Next, we head to Pamukkale. Upon arrival, you will explore the ancient city of Hierapolis with our professional guide. Key Sights Include:

  • The Roman Theater: A grand structure with a capacity of 12,000.

  • The Necropolis: A massive "City of the Dead" with fascinating sarcophagi.

  • Travertine Terraces: Walk barefoot on the white cliffs where warm thermal water flows beneath your feet.

4. Thermal Spas & Cleopatra’s Pool

You’ll have free time (approx. 3 hours) to relax in the thermal pools. For a truly royal experience, you can choose to swim in the Antique Cleopatra’s Pool (optional extra fee), where you can float among authentic fallen Roman columns in 36°C healing water.

5. Open Buffet Lunch & Dinner

A delicious open-buffet lunch is served in the village of Pamukkale. On our way back to Alanya, we stop for a final dinner at a scenic mountain restaurant, allowing you to reflect on your journey before returning to your hotel around 22:00 – 23:00 PM.

Pro Tips for the Journey

  • Barefoot Etiquette: You must remove your shoes to walk on the Pamukkale terraces to protect the delicate calcium formations. Bring a bag to carry your footwear.

  • Temperature Change: Salda and Pamukkale can be cooler than Alanya in the morning but very hot on the white travertines at noon. Wear layers and bring high-SPF sunscreen.

  • What to Pack: Swimwear, a towel, a hat, and plenty of water. Also, bring some cash for optional entrance fees or drinks.

Wow, what an incredible day! My family and I loved the tour from Alanya to Salda Lake and Pamukkale. The landscapes were like something out of a dream with those stunning white as snow sidewalks at Pamukkale. My kids couldn't stop marveling at what they called the 'Cotton Castle'. Plus, a dip in the lake was so refreshing, like finding a secret Caribbean spot right in Turkey! Just a little heads up – the day starts early, so pack some coffee if you're not a morning person like me. Still, totally worth it for an unforgettable family adventure!

What an amazing experience! The whole family loved stepping on the white travertines of Pamukkale. The 'Turkish Maldives' were stunning too! Heads up for fellow early birds – try a coffee at the brief catering stop; it’s quite good.
